13. David SAUL^{6,9,17,18,19,43} was born in 1855 in Lithuania.⁹ He immigrated about 1892.¹⁹ He was naturalized in 1895 in Alabama, USA.¹⁷ David appeared in the 1920 US census.¹⁷ David is listed as a 60 year old, white male. His wife's name is given as Bula, age 56, born in Kovna, Russia. His son, Samuel (age 31) and daughters, Rocky (age 22) and Jennie (age 19) also live there. Samuel and Rocky were born in Kovna, Jennie was born in Georgia. He died on 30 September 1939 at the age of 84 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.^18,25 Judith Saul Stix wrote in The Wise Child's Book that David Saul was older than his brothers. . . . He came to America in 1892, and his sons Sam and Joe came in 1894 or 1895. His wife Brina is referred to in the census and the city directories by many names, including Bessie, Berth, and Bella. Dave was in the clothing business when he first came to Atlanta. He is listed in the 1899 city directory. Later he became a dairyman. Nine clildren were listed by the census in 1910. Sam, Rose, and Ida worked in millinery at that time, Joe was an insurance collector, and Mike helped in his father's dairy. Dora, Jennie, and Moses were the children who were born in America. The family lived at 383 Central.

Jacob Raphaelson wrote in his autobiography that:
David Solsky, lived in a small town in Poland not far from Kovno and . . . he was dealing in logs which were floated to Germany in rafts. I got the idea that it would be cheaper and easier to cross the border into Germany by claiming to be a raft worker. I went to David and he was in favor of my idea. He told me that he would get me a place on a raft and it would not cost me anything. In a few days he introduced me to the raft men and made a date for me to start. He made lunches for me to take along.

of Janova. I do not know which son that was.

David SAUL and Brina ETTELSON were married in Kovna Gebernya.¹⁷ Brina ETTELSON^6,9,19, daughter of Ovsei ETTELSON, was born in 1857 in Kovna Gebernya.⁹ She died on 16 September 1925 at the age of 68 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.¹⁸ She was buried at Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, Fulton, Georgia, USA.²⁰ Block J-12, Row R-19, grave 21, section 16 The 1920 Census gives her age as 56 which would mean that Brina was born in 1864. Brina must have emigrated to the US between 1898 and 1901 judging by the birthdates of her children.
