20. Joseph (Jacob) SAUL^6,17 was born on 14 November 1870 in Lithuania.^12,17,25 The Jonava Birth records say November 24, 1870 with the Hebrew date Kislev 12. He was naturalized before 1920.¹⁷ He appeared in the 1920 US census. This census listing shows Jacob (age 49) and his wife, Sarah (age 45) living in Atlanta with their children, Edna (age 21), Abe (age 19), and Herbert (age 16). Also living with them are Alice Johnson (age 41 and listed as SI) and Marion Johnson (age 9, listed as maid). Jacob and Sarah were born in Russia, all the rest were born in Georgia. Joseph died on 15 March 1942 at the age of 71.²⁵ Judith Saul Stix wrote in The Wise Child's Book that J. came to New York and lived with his Uncle David and aunt Gittel. His cousins Harris and J.J. had started to work in the clothing industry, and it is believed they suggested that he move South. He went to Hartwell, GA, to start a business, and his brother Meyer was living there in 1900.

Joseph (Jacob) SAUL and Dora SAUL were married in May 1894 in USA. Dora SAUL, daughter of David SAUL and Gitel R. FINE, was born on 17 August 1876 in Russia.^17,25 She appeared in the 1910 US census. She appeared in the 1920 US census. She appears in the 1920 Census as "Sarah", wife of Jacob. But the children are listed as Edna, Abe, and Herbert. Dora died on 7 August 1956 at the age of 79 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.²⁵ She was buried in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
