Miami, Florida - ONDREA WEINKLE, 72, of Miami, Florida, passed away on March 17, 2023 after a 15 year battle with cancer. Ondrea passed quietly knowing that her family was with her. Ondrea was born on October 23, 1950 to Adeline and Oswald Orefice in East Meadow, New York. She attended East Meadow High School and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Ondrea met Jeffrey Weinkle of Miami Beach, FL in 1969. Although still teenagers, they fell in love and married in 1972. She and Jeff were devoted to each other and were married for 50 wonderful and exciting years. They lived in Miami and raised two children, Jessica and Matthew. She adored her children and her grandson, Lucian. Ondrea and Jeff enjoyed boating and sailing. They were regulars on the waters around Miami and eventually moved aboard their sailboat where they lived for many years in Coconut Grove and Fort Lauderdale. They cruised the areas of Biscayne Bay and the Florida Keys and went on several adventures to the Bahamas.
Ondrea and Jeff worked together in his law practice for more than 30 years where she was the business administrator.Ondrea's positive view of life could not be diminished by her illness. She was often heard to say "If I feel good, I am good" and she refused to let cancer control her life. She remained fully engaged with her family and friends, never complained, and maintained her positive outlook to the end.
Jeff says "She is the bravest person I know. She is my love. She is my hero." She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Ondrea was preceded in death by her mother and father Adeline Orefice (Lee) and Oswald Orefice (Ozzie). She is survived her husband Jeffrey Weinkle, her daughter Jessica Weinkle Blom, her son Matthew Weinkle, her grandson Lucian Blom and her mother-in-law Doris Elkins(Doree).
Ondrea wished to be laid to rest in the mountains of North Carolina, where she spent many happy times and there will be a private celebration of her life.
